“Native Plants are for the Birds” at the Greenwood Lake Public Library

The Greenwood Lake Public Library in cooperation with the Orange County Audubon Society will virtually present “Native Plants are for the Birds”.

Thursday, February 10th
7:00pm

Author, photographer, and landscape designer Carolyn Summers will present an informative review of current research that reveals the many ways in which native plants form the basis of the food web on which all life depends. She will connect that information to recent statistics showing steep declines in bird populations. Using native plants for landscaping can begin to reverse these downward trends.

Her lecture will cover those native plants most appropriate for home gardens. This multimedia program will feature images and sounds of local backyard bird species and will explain why we should use more native plants in our landscaping and how to design and plant gardens that benefit people and wildlife.

Carolyn Summers is the owner and founder of Flying Trillium Gardens and Preserve in Sullivan County and is the author of Designing Gardens with Flora of the American East.

This program will be presented via ZOOM.

To register please visit the library website here or call 845-477-8377 ext. 101.
