Dinner, excellent music and lakeside sunset views await you at the Cove Castle, as singer/songwriter Garrett Gardner sets the mood.
Friday, May 20th
7:00pm
Based in New Jersey, Garrett grew up in a musical family - his late father was a professional drummer. As a result, and quite naturally, Garrett was influenced by the exposure to the musicians his father played with, including Les Paul, John and Bucky Pizzarelli, Peter Frampton and Tom Jones, as well as the music Garrett listened to from early boyhood onward, ranging from The Beatles to jazz and funk artists like Grover Washington Jr.
By age 12, Garrett had started his first band, and a year later they won a battle of the bands at a Beatles convention. This led to an invitation from producer and Beatles historian Martin Lewis to perform at the premiere of the John Lennon biopic “Nowhere Boy,” held at the Gibson Showroom in New York. They were next invited to perform at John Lennon’s 70th birthday Tribute Concert, which featured Lennon’s first band, “The Quarrymen,” along with many other renowned musicians, including Pete Seeger, Earl Slick, and Tom Chapin.
At 16, Garrett auditioned for NBC’s “The Voice” and moved on to the Top 12 as a member of Shakira’s team. His cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” jumped to No. 1 on the iTunes rock charts.
Since “The Voice,” Garrett has been working on original material, performed multiple times on Fox 5’s Good Day NY, at the Staten Island Yankees Stadium, and internationally.
