Friends of Sterling Forest Lecture: Sterling Mountain Railroad

Sterling Mountain Railway operated from 1865 to 1923 carrying ore from Lakeville, at the foot of Sterling Lake, to Sterlington Station, at Sterling Junction, just south of present-day Sloatsburg. Join local historian, Doc Bayne, as he traces the history of this integral part of the iron industry at Sterling.

The Friends of Sterling Forest is a volunteer group organized to protect, enhance, advocate for and connect people to the natural, historical and cultural resources of Sterling Forest State Park. This will be accomplished by fundraising through partnerships with individuals, businesses, schools, community organizations, government and the public.
