Friends of Sterling Forest Lecture: How Iron Was Made

Do you know what a blast furnace is? Do you know what a bloomery is? Do you know what a forge is?

Sunday, March 26th
1:00pm

Doc Bayne will give a PowerPoint presentation on the making of iron from colonial times to the present day.

The Friends of Sterling Forest is a non-profit organization established to preserve, protect and foster an appreciation of the natural resources and historical treasures that make up Sterling Forest State Park.

The Friends of Sterling Forest helps with the stabilization, restoration and maintenance of historic buildings and sites within the Park.  Sites such as Southfields Furnace, Sterling Furnace and Sterling Forge, where the Great Chain across the Hudson River was made, are in desperate need of attention.

In addition, the Friends of Sterling Forest host lectures, hikes and special events each month, promoting the Park.  The public is cordially invited to attend these events free of charge.
