Friends of Sterling Forest Lecture: The First Marked Nature Trail in the Country

Join the Friends of Sterling Forest for a lecture about the first marked nature trail in the county - almost 100 years old!

Sunday, February 20th
1:00pm

Between 1925 and 1928, Dr. Frank Lutz of the American Museum of Natural History and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission operated a “museum camp” at the western entrance to Harriman State Park on what is now the intersection of routes 17 and 17A. They established the first marked nature trail in the country. This presentation by Sue Scher will describe the research and the trail. Historical pictures will help us learn more about this work.

Advance Registration is mandatory for all programs. Please call the park at 845-351-5907 to register.
