Explore the island’s fascinating and varied history with local historian and Iona-expert Doc Bayne. Closed to the public except for special occasions such as this, Iona Island has been for thousands of years a source of inspiration and intrigue for the many people who have lived or worked there.

The Friends of Sterling Forest is a volunteer group organized to protect, enhance, advocate for and connect people to the natural, historical and cultural resources of Sterling Forest State Park. This will be accomplished by fundraising through partnerships with individuals, businesses, schools, community organizations, government and the public.
Meet at Iona Island in the parking lot by the railroad tracks. (Iona Island is just off 9W, about one mile south of the Bear Mountain Inn.)
