Friends of Sterling Forest Hike: Life at Lakeville

Join Doc Bayne, local historian and educator, on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, for a walk back in time and learn what life was like for the miners and the families that lived in Lakeville 100 + years ago.

Lakeville was once a thriving community built to accommodate the employees and managers of Sterling Iron Works. There was a company store, a hotel, homes and industrial buildings.

Our hikes will include stops along the way to interpret natural and historic features.

The trails can be steep and rocky, so please wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots.

We will meet at the Visitor’s Center.

For more information you can email us at friendsofsterlingforest@gmail.com

ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PROGRAMS. PLEASE CALL THE PARK 845-351-5907 TO REGISTER.
