Friends of Sterling Forest Hike: The First Marked Nature Trail in the County

As a follow-up to the lecture on February 20, come join the Friends of Sterling Forest as they explore the Scientific Study of Insects (SSI) Trail.

Sunday, February 27th
1:00 to 4:00pm

Between 1925 and 1928, Dr. Frank Lutz of the American Museum of Natural History and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission operated a “museum camp” at the western entrance to Harriman State Park on what is now the intersection of routes 17 and 17A. They established the first marked nature trail in the country.

Meet the group at the parking lot located at the southern intersection of Route 17 and 17A.

Advance Registration is mandatory for all programs. Please call the park at 845-351-5907 to register.
