Mardi Gras for a Cause was first dreamed up by a group of musicians from Warwick, NY who wanted to celebrate their passion for music and their community. Living in a town that was so supportive of the arts, it didn’t take long for a whole committee of musicians and business owners to come together and turn that dream into a reality. The inaugural event in 2013 transformed what would have been an ordinary Tuesday night into an evening where people of all ages came together and had unique and memorable experiences while supporting a wonderful community organization, Backpack Snack Attack. Participating Restaurants and Pubs will offer Mardi Gras Food and Drink Specials, all locations will have live music. Guests are encouraged to visit several locations during the evening. Bangles, Beads, Prizes, and a lot of Fun. We are bringing the Rio and New Orleans Fat Tuesday Celebration to the Villages of Warwick and Florida NY!!
Backpack Snack Attack is an outreach program of the Warwick Reformed Church that feeds over 200 children in the Town of Warwick. The program provides food for hungry school children to eat at home on the weekends during the school year, when school meals are not available. The school selects the children in need. Backpack Snack Attack then provides the backpacks and individually sized, ready to eat (including microwavable), kid friendly food items for the children and their siblings every weekend. During the summer, Backpack Snack Attack distributes Staples gift cards to assist with purchasing school supplies for the next year.
