Pianist/vocalist Ed Alstrom and his trio (featuring the explosive and highly creative talents of Sue Williams on bass and Don Guinta on drums) play a bewilderingly eclectic assortment of tunes in their unique style, drawing on Broadway, blues, R&B, cabaret, standards, Classic rock, New Orleans second line music, novelty items, jazz, opera, quirky originals, and whatever else they can pillage and manipulate to their own ends. Harnessing the diversity and energy of a bar band, the proficiency and complexity of a jazz band, with the elegance and intimacy of a cabaret act? The music speaks most convincingly for itself.

The group has one CD, entitled, appropriately, “Acid Cabaret”. This will include a solid 69 minutes of the broad scope of impressively performed music that they have turned some heads with, ranging from Duke Ellington’s “Azalea”, to Mountain’s “Theme From An Imaginary Western”, to Lee Dorsey’s “People Gonna Talk”, and including some Alstrom originals.
