Greenwood Lake (Thomas P. Morahan Beach)
A vacation destination for over 200 years, Greenwood Lake is Orange County, New York’s largest body of freshwater, nine miles long, fed by springs and brooks, with half in New York and half in New Jersey. Daily (resident) and season passes are available to the park and sandy beach area that includes: restrooms; lifeguard supervised swimming area; children’s play area; volleyball court; and picnic tables. Anyone who is staying in the Town of Warwick, from thru-hikers on the Appalachian trail all the way to guests at a hotel, may purchase day passes to the beach. As long as they can show they are staying here – in the case of a thru-hiker, a pack fit for month-long trek counts.
